OptiFast Diet – Day 18

I’ve lost 7.5kg! My weight loss during OptiFast sort of plateaued for a few days and then BOOM; dropped another 2kg.

I’m really hoping to lose 10kg before my surgery, not for any specific reason, but just because that’s the goal I’ve set for myself. So with that in mind, I’ve only got another 2.5kg to lose in 6 days!

Also want to touch on the fact that I’ve slipped up twice on this diet since my last update. Not terribly, but I have been a little naughty. So because I wanted this to be a documentation of my journey, I wanted to keep it very real with you all too. The VLCD is a very physically and mentally difficult diet. My mum and sister both started a similar diet on the same day as me (but instead were having two OptiFast products and one meal per day), and my sister didn’t last the first week (I don’t blame her though, I wouldn’t volunteer to do this diet again). My mum is still going strong, and has lost 3kg in the same time as me! My slip ups were because I caved in two separate social situations, only with food though, I’m surprised I haven’t craved any sort of soft drink at all this entire time.

I also started my daily walks again (finally), because I think my body has adjusted to the VLCD. It was said after 2-3 weeks you can resume light walking, and I felt good enough after about 2.5 weeks.

I had all of my blood tests and x-rays done yesterday, and today I got a call from one of the admission nurses at my hospital to get some things sorted before next Friday. I can’t believe this time next Friday I’ll be out of surgery and on the losers bench (and that I’ll be able to have whatever fruit I want again on the initial liquid stage, my god I’ve missed fruit).

I’m also going to address how this surgery has already affected some of my relationships in the next couple of days.
